Calum/Desktop-devel folks: Recently I changed the default configuration for GDM so that SystemMenu in the GDM configuration is "false". This turns off the appearance of "Logout" and "Reboot" from the GDM screen and from the Launch button.
Users are starting to complain that they like this behavior. However, I'm guessing that if we want these on by default, that we have to update our UI specification to add these items if we want them on by default. Most other GNOME distros ship this on by default, so if we wanted to be similar we might want this on. However, not all Sun users are desktop users (e.g. SunRay) and would want this feature off by default. Allowing users to shutdown/reboot the system from the login screen may not be the best (most secure, etc.) default setting. I'll I wanted to share this issue with desktop-devel for thoughts.
