Sun is already one of the major financial sponsors of many GNOME  
activities, and has seats on the GNOME Advisory Board and the GNOME  
Foundation board of directors.  So to be honest, I think we're already  
as well represented in those arenas as we could reasonably expect to  
be, especially if this discussion ever reaches that level.  (Which I  
think it would probably have to; I can't see how it would be up to the  
GNOME release team to set that kind of direction for the whole GNOME  
project.)
