My comments had nothing to do with my inability to "wrap my brain
around it". Nor am I suggesting that OpenSRS make something other
than "a" functional system (I wasn't implying "several" systems,
if that's what you mean).
Yes, I am totally free to code my own (and have, in fact). My
point was, and still is:
a) if the API is in a language-neutral or based on an open
standard, it will be a lot easier for people to incorporate the
OpenSRS system into their existing framework (if that framework
isn't dictated by the API), which leads to
b) the more people who use OpenSRS, the better for OpenSRS.
