to clarify, i never meant to imply that it would be legal for network solutions to do 
this, only that it would be in their best interest to have such a "policy", legal or 
not

with regard to the legality, it is also clearly illegal for them to request payment 
for a domain which has already been transferred .. something which network solutions 
was guilty of for some time .. they can say that it was a mistake .. ya, right, 
whatever

all i am saying is that i would not be surprised to see network solutions attempt to 
pull a "microsoft" tactic in order to preserve their market dominance
