Thanks for the pointer to the extension issue.  I hadn't knowingly added 
this extension, but the culprit is McAfee SiteAdvisor 26.5.  It's part of 
the McAfee security suite.  When doing web searches, it adds small icons for 
each item in the hit lists indicating whether or not McAfee has checked out 
the website and considers it OK to access.  When I disable that extension 
via the Add-ons menu, the title-attribute-based tooltips problems for 
Minefield and Gran Paradiso go away.

But Fx1.5 and Fx2 have not had any problems with that McAfee extension, and 
it's a very desirable one that I and probably most McAfee subscribers will 
want to keep enabled in Fx3.  So perhaps one of the developers who 
subscribes to McAfee and thus can work on the problem (possibly requiring 
interaction with the McAfee folks) might want to file an appropriately 
worked bug entry (and hopefully post its number here).
