Well, what I wanted to do was get a feeler for if there are any
blockers here, before we start doing any work.  Let's hear from the
dev community a bit more before we go too far.  I wouldn't want our
work to be wasted if there were any objections.  Anyone?

As Hadrian said in another email, we should definitely try to discuss
on-list as much as we can.  There's nothing wrong with chatting about
issues we're having and stuff on IRC, but any *decisions* need to be
made on the mailing list.  We have to be open to input from the entire
community.
