Right, but in that case the apr-iconv will be only the wrapper over the existing iconv, as apr_xlate inside apr-util is right now. OTOH it would give a cross platform look and feel for all operating systems. From the users point of view noting will change, except that the apr_xlate will reside in a different .so.
