I have been wondering more and more if ArgoUML ought to get into bed with one of the major open source IDE's. More and more my colleagues at work tell me that what they want is a UML tool that is synchronised with the source code. ie create a UML class will immediately create a java source file, create an attribute in that source file will immediately update the class in the UML diagram. For this we have always argued that we are not an IDE and refused requests to become a source editor. However I can only see the likes of NetBeans and Eclipse eventually doing that with or without us. If its without us then who would then need us? Part of me hates the idea of choosing one IDE over the other. I would have hoped that we might be able to integrate with both NetBeans and Eclipse. But in order to someday integrate at such a deep level and with our lack of resources we may have no other practical choice but to choose one.
