Hi Bob I've often wondered the same myself.
Here are my suggested possibilities 1. When we have a clearly defined interface between components inside ArgoUML I had hoped that once we have a well defined interface for ArgoUML that we would become 1.0. However we seem to be in a constant state of flux. Having got a model interface I don't really think its well defined for the job and we need more split out into separate modules where the interface is clearer. I've got a bit fed up of waiting for this even though I am pushing for change in this area. 2. When we have UML2 publicly available This would give us a clear milestone in which to announce both UML2 and ArgoUML 1.0 3. ASAP As an application ArgoUML is stable and improving. So moving to release 1.0 promotes that stability to the users. The users don't really care that our internal interfaces are not particularly well defined. If we go to V1.0 then I think our current odd/even mechanism for dev/stable release numbers should be changed.
