* website is screwed
Leo is addressing that (can't remember which one).
* released components have backwards compat broken haphazardly
Released? Where?
* indepent release of components is non existent
We are doing that *now*. The Lifecycle question is part of that release.
* docs are non existent for many components
As we get ready for a release we are addressing that as well. It would be a pleasure to have your support to help us get under way with the ones on our plate at this time.
* unit tests are non existent for many components
Again, we are addressing these as we get to them. We would be more than happy to have your help as we get each set of components to work with each other.
* unit tests when present have poor coverage
Again, help us out.
* unit tests when present and with good coverage are not run (and thus "released" code fails to pass them)
Example? By released we mean something accessible on www.apache.org/dist/avalon/
* when changes are made the required work of making changes is rarely done (involves updating all avalon users of change, gump, build system and docs).
Those are being addressed. GUMP is working for the important parts of Avalon now.
* licenses on 90% of files is invalid
I seem to remember a war in CVS about this... We are adding in the official full license as we go through preparing a component for release. You are welcome to accelerate this process.
Oh I am sure that you can say "you are working on it" but I have heard that story for years now and nothing has changed.
Better look again. It *is* changing.
