Note that, if it's been wrong for a long time, it does not make a difference for the release.
Personally, I wouldn't want to ship a release with a broken testsuite. I know it amounts to sweeping it under the rug, but I'd rather remove the testcase temporarily for the release and put it back just after.
I might try to fix the problem, but not today and I'm no Avalon guru by any means.
