I couldn't find any informations on the Chart2 website, if this module will be established as independent component like Math with the need of adding a new modules color and new icons for application and documents.

In the moment the chart in OpenOffice.org is indeed no standalone application and there are no current plans to change this. But in general it is really questionable why math is a standalone application and chart is not. So this might be discussed again and change in future.

Even if Chart will not be a standalone component in OOo 3.0 it could be modified in the following releases, if I understand this right.

As the icons we're going to create should stay at least until the last release before OOo4 we'll have to think about sparing a color range not to be used for other components.

In the moment it could be dark green or purple - we're just at the beginning of the color discussion on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
There exists already an icon for chart document that uses dark green [1] as color. I think the color is ok. Maybe we should use a pie chart instead of the columns, as this makes the purpose of the icon clearer.

However, this icon is indeed not used today, and I am not sure if there are any plans to change this. Charts are currently only available as OLE objects, but one basic property of OLE objects is to have an own file-format as it is required to be storable on their own (as temp-files). There is usually also a menu entry "Save Copy As ..." for storing an OLE-object as a separate file. This is currently not available for charts, but I see no reason for not being able to do so. (Except the reason that, when having those files, you should be able to open and also modify them, which currently also doesn't work satisfactory)
