Hi Jörg,

thanks for submitting this specification. I totally agree with you on
the point that multi selection is not very well visualized nowadays.
Even a single selection can be confusing if there are multiple shapes
with roughly the same size at the same position.

Your solution seems to be to also visualize the selection at the shape
itself, by setting the stroke color to green. Or do you just want to
have a green outline? (f.e., if the stroke is black and 1/2 inch thick,
is it all green or mainly black with a thin green edge? )

I have two problems with this. First we loose the what you see is what
you get on selected shapes. For example you select a shape because
you want the stroke to be blue. You select it, select blue from the
toolbar and you wonder why it is green now. That is confusing for the
user. My second problem with it is that it is not very accessible.
Think about people that have difficulties separating red and green
colors. I don't know how well this will work for them. Also what if
all your shapes are already outlined in green?

I'm very in favor of improving our current selection visualization,
but I would prefer if we find a solution that does not change the
appearance of the selected shapes. But I'm afraid I have no better
Idea at the moment. Btw, your competitive analysis mock ups show the
current problem very well :)

Armin, whats your opinion on this?

Regards,
Christian

Hello,

I know from my own user experience, that it's sometimes difficult which object, in one of the OOo drawing applications, is selected and which not. I tried to collect some examples and created some mock-ups how it could look more clear. I put this samples into the specification template and attached it to issue 70978. I'm curious what you think about it.
