matches your statement, but since I'm not into this kind of stuff this
might be two seperate things.

IIRC there are differences in rendering the text at least in impress vs
the other ones, but I'm not sure whether this is still true.
(or in text-fields (not frames) in writer).

Not hacked by myselft at least... But after I read your mail I tried
with other fonts and there are fonts where the two items appear as two
different characters, so there may be some kind of kerning involved.

I don't have a clue about font-technology and how this is handled in
OOo...
