Andy Seaborne commented on JENA-909:
------------------------------------
[~dcook] - thanks for the comments.
I have also done a Dockerfile that builds, strips the system with jdeps/jlink
and sets up a runtime, all using Alpine. The resulting image is much smaller at
90M. It needs updating to use the adoptjdk (or other) alpine-java base rather
than do it itself.
My goal is getting on hub.docker.com while not burdening the current release
process. Given project resources, there is balance with what the project can
provide and "self-assembly".
A question I have is whether a standard image helps - or will many people want
customization and so work from the Dockerfile and build their own.
----
Which particular aspect of scalability are you interested in? (Not to persuade
you to use it but to be informed and understand the situation.)
