Hi Christo,
I'd like to give an update on progress for KIP-932 and KIP-1226. Today has been
challenging because of build failures on account of an OOM in the client unit
tests. We have now identified the troublesome commit and just merged a fix.

PRs for 3 of the remaining 5 subtasks for KIP-932
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-16092) are ready but the build
problems thwarted their completion. This is one code fix, a PR to mark
interfaces as stable, and documentation. That leaves 1 subtask
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-17541) which should complete this
week, and another (https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-19865) which is
documenting metrics.

The final task for KIP-1226 has an approved PR which again has been hampered
today by the builds.

I wonder whether you could postpone cutting the release branch by one day until
the morning of 21st. If not, we can cherry-pick, but I thought I'd ask.

Thanks,
Andrew
