Thanks for the votes of confidence, mentors :)

What's the next step here? According to
http://incubator.apache.org/guides/graduation.html#toplevel it's
traditional for a community to have a VOTE thread. Should we start such a
vote (either on dev@ or on user@? not sure how broad a community). Or is
this DISCUSS thread enough, and we should start to prepare a charter?

Should we notify the incubator list that these discussions are starting?
