Is there any reason for you to not use the same tooling you use for UI? ;-) Of course we use the same mechanism for UI and for help -> PO files and every translator can choose which tool/operating system he prefers. I prefer Emacs' po-mode, other people work on Windows using poEdit, many people use kbabel for their translations.
