Welcome!
I am also member of opie.handhelds.org and have successefuly localised
PDA Linux stuff. Now as my next project I would like to see
localisation of OpenOffice.org.
Did you take a look at http://l10n.openoffice.org/languages.html
There Latvian is listed as work in progress, did you already contact the
responsible person mentioned?
Yes we were in contact with him. But seems like he is busy.. :(. I
would try to do what I can about managing all translation job. But
let's see how it will go.. :)
- Is there some irc channel where you people hangin around so I can ask
quick questions
A general developer channel is #openoffice.org on irc.freenode.net
- How we should do localisation start, to be more compatible with new
upcomping version and to spend less work for transition. (because we
have no localisation for older versions). Like, would glosary be same
for OO 1.9xx/2xxx
Probably similar but not identical. Don't know though when an updated
glossary will be available.
For localization please follow the guidelines available at
http://l10n.openoffice.org/L10N_Framework/index.html
(choose OOo2.x over OOo1.x) and
http://www.khmeros.info/tools/index.html
Note that the latter is a yet unfinished work-in-progress documentation,
but it provides much insight and is very detailed. Thanks to Javier, who
will eventually move it to the OOo site to make it the standard
documentation.
- In wich form glosary should be submited (Sory if it is writen
somewhere.. then just point out.)
The translated glossary doesn't have to be submitted. It is important to
make it available to all members of the translation team though.
Ok.. We use special project for dictionary purposes -
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lvdict/. There we will include glosary.
