IMO there's a difference if you use your personal repository to
try out things and test ideas, or if you keep things private because
you're afraid that the community might reject them.
If one has the feeling that some code is useful, I think she or
he should commit it. If others think that it is not correct or
appropriate for whatever reasons, they should express this on
the mailing list. In general, this should result in improving the
committed code rather than rejecting it, or in implementing the
idea in another way.
