Ken Foskey:

1. myspell has a poor choice of mispelled words. Less than other
products.

I find that MySpell performs oustandingly better than Microsoft Office spellchecker on Russian. Say, in a word two letters are swaped and one missing. In such a situation MS is helpless, and MySpell in most cases offers correct suggestions.

3. myspell does not share personal dictionaries with other spell
checkers. We should have a standard place and format that all personal
dictionaries are stored.

At least, MySpell's word lists are easily shared with ISpell. And affix list conversion can be done with quite simple scripts in Perl or Python or anything else.

For windows we should integrate with the word list of the M$ products as
well if we possibly can, at least the personal word lists. Preferably
not by import but by direct read

I can't see any problem in it. MS's user dictionaries are just plain-text files. However, MS's user dictionaries are NO MORE than just plain text — no affix support, for example. It's not so importan for English, but for lots of other languages it matters.

In fact, MySpell is one of the reasons why I work today mostly with OOo and shun MSO

Best regards,

Dmitri Gabinski
