>- see footer for list info -< Can be done, but it's a bit messy Take a look at http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_18656
Basically create an ODBC to the spreadsheet and then an ODBC socket in the administrator. Upload the file via a browser, overwriting the existing file on the server and bob's your uncle. The key is making sure the worksheets (in the queries worksheets names are used lie queries) are named the name and that maintain database connections is unchecked in the administrator (otherwise it can mess with the upload) Let me know if you have any problems Mark -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Paul Swingewood Sent: 26 October 2005 11:38 To: [email protected] Subject: [CF-Dev] Excel Datasource >- see footer for list info -< I have a requirement where the client stores lots of financial data on a spreadsheet. I want to be able to use this spreadsheet as a datasource. Here are the concearns. The spreadsheet changes quaterly. Sometimes in its physical structure i.e. column names won't be the same. The client wants to have an easy mechanism to upload the spreadsheet and the application does the rest. So..... I was thinking that the client could upload the spreadsheet via a backend system. CF would then need to create an on the fly datasource to this spreadsheet and be able to read all of the column headings etc ..... I have no idea how to even start this one....? Can this even be done? Can anyone point me in the direction of some reading around this ...?
