thanks Duncan - reading that post it looks like there are potential
issues with cfusion_encrypt, but someone else posted an example of
encrypting a string to base64. Can anyone see any problem (ie. security)
with the following:
#ToBase64(encrypt(name,"12345"))#

Hi all,
how do you insert an encrypted string into a database?
Example:
<cfquery name="ins1" datasource="#request.dsn#"
password="#request.pwd#">
INSERT INTO tbl_example
(name,dob)
VALUES
('#encrypt(name,"12345")#','#encrypt(dob,"12345")#')
</cfquery>
The encrypted strings cause a problem with the db query because of the
charaters that are outputted. IE. the above query goes through like this:
INSERT INTO tbl_example (name,dob) VALUES ('%;E:0MOP ','(# O1[ZQBUO< ')
