To be a bit less cryptic :-) the java library I use needs the keys to be in the format generated by 'openssh'. If you have access to openssh you can use the ssh-keygen program, or if you have putty, puttygen program this has a conversion function (see conversion on menu) where you can import an existing key and convert it to openssh format.
