Somebody else had the same issue using the same client, but I did not here
if he manged to resolve it somehow.

Are you able to use either openssh or putty to generate or convert keys?

Both are open source.  putty can be downloaded here

I discovered while working on this that ssh keys are not formatted exactly
the same by all ssh packages.
  Can I ask what ssh client you are using?
