i'd have to agree with you about the extremity of the workaround, but there doesn't seem another way round it and I spent ages trying to tie this one down
I don't know if it has been logged as a bug. I think the issue is (from what someone else mentioned) logged with who. Macromedia or Microsoft? Somewhere between the two an error is being caused.
