We have tried contrail-installer (4 different developers) on Ubuntu 16.04 with DevStack Ocata (Mitaka is no longer available). It can bring all component ‘Active’ after try-and-error fixing broken steps, but not fully functional.
We are more than happy to contribute our ‘fixes’ to where we are and work with the community together to complete the last missing pieces. You must make sure people can install and use it first if you hope to have more developers and users. However Amazon demo scripts can be used today to build a multi-vm environment in Amazon. It is semi-latest Cannonical OpenStack and OpenContrail 4.0.1. The scripts set up the whole environment for you. Just fill out few things. I know this is not stuff that can run on desktops and is not useful for a true development pipeline. I am simply trying to avoid having people show up to a developer meeting cold, without even basic open contrail knowledge. Once the CI system is up we will have a set of running single VM scripts. But my choice right now is to stop the development and have people write the docs. Or finish the development, launch the community CI and then write the docs. The ideal would be no slides and all questions, answers and discussions. No formal pre-work is required, but I would encourage anyone who is contemplating any Contrail development to spend a little time thinking about what you think your development steps will be and make a list of anything that you’re unsure about. The goal of this session is to get developers up to speed, so the more specific examples we have of either obstacles or simply things that ought to be covered in a getting started guide but aren’t will be helpful. I’m hoping to create the beginnings of a developer FAQ based on what questions people have. -- Paul Carver VoIP: 732-545-7377 Cell: 908-803-1656 E: pcar...@att.com<mailto:pcar...@att.com> Q Instant Message<qto://talk/pc2929> It is difficult to make predictions.
