After dealing with JUL, I understand the appeal of alternatives.  IMO,
we should simply go with the best alternative today (or perhaps look
slightly ahead to what will be the best alternative soon).

As long as the server works out of the box (i.e. /example), this
doesn't matter to me.
I'm in the "solr is a server" camp, and not "solr is a WAR" ;-)
