Um, not really. Did you sign it, Daniel? Is there any power on earth that
will get you to shell out $150 for MS Office? (Since you are a student and a
teacher.)

I did sign. Yes, there /is/ a power on earth that would make me pay that much for MS Office. I am not a student anymore, I am employed and I get more than enough to afford MS Office.

You don't even own Windows or a Mac! You *can't* buy their
product.

Well, I do have a Windows installation that I don't use. Though I'd certainly prefer that they port it, or I could run it with Crossover.

And you still forget the 2 other computers that I purchased, which are used by my parents and my brother, which *are* running Windows XP, and one of which actually currently has MS Office on it.

Doesn't this make me a Microsoft customer? I sent money to Bill Gates and I have full right to request a feature.

MS would be absolutely right to say this petition is pointless. It's just a
publicity stunt by the OpenDocument Foundation or Friends or whatever.

Fellowship.

I disagree. If Windows has a 90% market share, as you are so keen on reminding us, wouldn't we expect that the results be at least mostly accurate?

And 700 signatures representing 40,000 computers? Okay, sure.

A single elementary school in the UK will have 200 computers. A secondary school will have 3500. We have several schools and university departments signing. We got signatures from some institutions (which were checked) that have over a thousand computers.

Can I sign and say I have 100,000 computers?

For such a high number you will have to contact the webmaster and we'll do some checks.

Is there any checking up on these claims?

Yes. There are 3 people checking claims. Especially the big ones. We are doing a very thorough quality assurance.

I actually do have like
20 computers, not all of them work - some are handhelds from the 90s. But I
can count them, right?

No. You should only count computers capable of running MS Office.

This is a huge waste of time. And it's only going to make ODF look more
desparate for publicity.

Over 1,000 people disagree with you :-)

Cheers,
Daniel.
