Funny, I thought it was the Japanese community who came up with that
idea. They organized a contest inside the NLC and names chosen were
names of cities worlwide. It was implemented and then abandoned. I never
saw you do anything in this sense.

Not quite, Daniel was one of the few supporters and organized (on his own website) the first vote - this was at the time of OOo 1.1.1, codenamed "Prague" The Japanese community got involved after OOo 1.1.2, codenamed "Hakone", when they, as current winners, were supposed to organize the next contest (IIRC, then the idea was quietly dropped).
