Before working too much on the old one, you may want to check what´s about the intension to replace thy why pages by new ones: http://marketing.openoffice.org/tryouts/Why.OpenOffice.org/en/index.html

As far as I remember, André Wyrwa <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> was working on this new approach already more than a year ago.

At a first glance, the tryout generates bad feelings in me. It starts
with talking about a company called Microsoft, and a proprietary Office
Suite that has nothing to do - as far as I know - with OpenOffice.org
(maybe it's derived from OOo?). To mention an analogy, I discredit politicians who start their speeches with talking about their rivals. I think this is a bad approach that generates free (as in free beer) advertisement for that rival. I dislike the idea to work for Microsoft without any compensation, in the name of an open source software.

I also see the loss of autonomy in such a comparison, like this:
"My advantage is that I am better than someone other."
I think this is quite inferior to the other possible approach.

A way better solution is like this:
"My advantage is that I am quite good in what I do."

It can be enhanced:
"I support both the poor and the rich. I work for you without compensation. I am reliable, and not intended to lock you in. I am transparent: no animals were harmed during my development."

I prefer this method. Running after the rival and pointing to it is childish. OpenOffice.org is a grown-up. The ideas above can be applied to it easily.

Therefore I still would like to translate the older, non-Microsoft
related Why website, which I find great, despite the Windows-only screen-shots. Can someone point me to the source files?
