Hello
What do you think about following news? Concretely: What about
perspectives if OOo in the nearest future under ORACLE supervision?
My personal opinion is that Oracle is quite a large software company
being too professional to neglect OOo. So I'm sure they do have plans if
and how they support OOo development.
As these plans will not be published before the decision of the European
antitrust regulators, we'll have to wait for their press release after
this decision.
For me there are three possible results:
A) Oracle wants to reduce Suns open source activities.
B) Oracle keeps the activities on the same level.
C) Oracle intensifies the open source dedication.
I don't think that we should start marketing campaigns for all the three
of these possibilities, but perhaps we could create a press release in
three different versions, so we can invite / congratulate / thank Oracle
for their dedication - depending on their goals.
These PR should be worked on in the team dedicated for such work -
non-public (on p...@marketing) as all our press releases.
Campaigns could start after we know about the direction they want to go
with us.
It's one more week of uncertainty, I think we can bare with it.
Just my two cent...
Best regards
Bernhard
