Hi everyone,
+1
I've proposed this a while ago, great to see somebody share my sentiments.
Now, to address some topics the e-mails:
1) @Roman: I would trust Oracle with an open-source online OO.org. If Oracle
messed up, there'd be nothing to stop others to create their own branch of
the onlince OO.org and correct the mistakes. Just like with OO.org today.
Besides, Oracle's been quite good with running OOo and VirtualBox. I trust
them.
2) @goldfish: If the online OOo was open-source, that would mean anybody
could host it. For example, EtherPad is an open-source online word
processor, but they're ending their hosting service and pointing to
third-party hosts instead: http://etherpad.org/etherpadsites.html . Oracle
could decide to provide hosting (paid or free, with or without ads), but
that's their choice.
