Charles, thank you for addressing the issue. I would like to comment on some questions Gia has asked.
> [Unfortunately] the main collision is that AFAIK the localization (NOT > NLC) project started by me. > see announce http://l10n.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=4936 > ... > earlier than (what a surprise) Georgian NL project. The Georgian NL project should come as a surprize now, as I directly replied to your posting of Feb 24 you are referring above, inviting you to join the project, with the explanation that the OOo Community had already been informed of Georgian project, as well as the current status of the project (see http://l10n.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=4938 ). I believe you would also know about the project, before your Feb 24 letter, from my announcments at the open discussion forums, by our inviting you to the open meeting, by my website, as well as by Georgian media. > Additionally, i cannot get !!!any!!! answers on my QuestionS from here > http://l10n.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=4939 during > last ~1.5 months and 3 reminding (as well as !!!any!!! adequate proposal). The answer to your mail can be found in the same mailing list, as I have directly replied to you (see http://l10n.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=4941 ) and invited you again to join them project. After that, I have repeatedly ased you to join our mailing list and project, introduce the members of your team (if there are any), so that Georgian users could benefit from our cooperation. You have been ignoring my last letters. Let me say this again: I, together with the memebrs of the Georgian NL team, respect your work and would be very glad if you would join your efforts to the project. I have never had anything against you (I do not know you personally, despite both of us having attended the same meeting once), nor against your efforts. On the contrary, I respect your experience in IT filed and would be very glad if could put your skills for OOo and other FOSS projects. > Only thing what i'm going to do is [high quality] internationalized/localized > OOo. > Proposal is the same as in previous post - to wait. Everything must have > its own name. I do not quite understand the meaning of this sentence. I think it would be useless if one group created a l10n of a product in open manner (which is the only proper way suitable for community supported open pprojects) encouraging all the people to volunteer and participate in the project, while another person (with undesclosed team), tried to achieve and distribute the 'alternate l10n of the same product. It would be waste of your efforts and Georgian OOo community would much better benefit from a collaborative and open project, accomplished by all the people who liked to participate in the project. > [cooperation] initially impossible. Even it could be harmfull for my > future plans. I can not think of any reason why a cooperation and open collaboration could be harmful for someone's future plans. Open cooperation is the key to success of FOSS products. This is the philosophy of open source products. If you meant a commercial profit in your sentence, I assure you that I have never seen any commercial profit from supporting open source and l10n projects and I doubt you've had much profit either. I can not see of a reason why there is a need of competition when volunteering for a project from what Georgian users will benefit :) If there is any other circumstance I am not aware of and can somehow support you to still join the project, but maintain your interests, please let me know and I will do my best to somehow create the productive environment for your participation. Or, if you represent a governmential body that is willing to support the Georgian l10n of OOo, or an NGO that has been financed to do the job, please introduce yourself and your team at least. Also, to make it clear, I will not be _the_ person who will create a localized version of OOo, nor will I be the author of Georgian OOo. The l10n will be accomplished by members of Georgian NL projects l10n team and everyone will get the due credit. This is the way people participate in opensource projects and everyne's contribution is credited and remembered. It is also troublesome for us that you create language patches (like recent Georgian locale corrections) for OOo and refuse to disclose your current tasks to us. Two people/groups independently working on the same issue results in wasted time. > Want to ensure You - for me is really no matter under whose banner it will > be done - just hoping that <<everything will have its own name>>. There are no banners. Every participant is credited and respected for his/her work (and the amount of work to be done it is definetely enough for all the people willing to volunteer). I hope Georgia users will benefit from our joint efforts to create a fully localized OOo and support its distribution among Georgian users, in schools and educational institutions, in governmential/ nongovernmential bodies and commercial companies.
