Further, "governance" means many things. As used by me, it does not
mean, say, who is present on the Community Council, but how code
contributions are processed. The former is pretty transparent-- witness
this exchange--the latter less so, if only because there is the
coincidence of Sun, as the major contributor, and Sun, as the copyright
holder.
IMHO, SUN copyright holder is a key point
Companies won't go massivelly in core-development if they have to give
half their IP to a concurrent
IP should be hold by OOo (the foundation) to benefit OOo
Btw, being a major contributor, Sun will still have some power on the
development. Do OOo still apply meritocracy ?
But the door must be widely opened for newcommers and that is the goal
of a foundation
For me, development organisatation is secondary as if the political
decison is made, developpers will work together and move the
organization to their needs
