The reason is much simpler. CVS just sucks. :) Try using something new
like Monotone, Darcs, or Subversion. After using one of those for a
while going back to CVS is painful. My personal favourite is Darcs, but
Monotone has some interesting ideas behind it and Subversion has a large
following.
Btw, I use Darcs to manage the INGOTs website.
