As Andre said, we (NLC leads) have already been notified that Sun is not interested by our user base feedback. I voted for the last survey conducted by IDC but again it's English only so what would be the results of this survey and what should I answer when users ask me what to do with this survey they don't understand a word ? They feel useless.
I'm very concerned by what you have said in this thread, Sophie. I've been working to get my community to take the risk of participating and trust the overall project to respect our needs and skills.
As you say, if our users are let down by the overall project, we are the focus of their disappointment. It's a very difficult position.
I haven't encountered this in any other free-software project, so it can't be that hard to include the user base. For projects, the user base is their strength. They can't afford to disregard it.
With regard to the user survey, can we get access to the files and translate it, provide a localized version which would be activated by the use of a localized OpenOffice?
