I haven't caught up with everything yet since that was a lot of mails
but I like that thought too, we chatted about this idea before. This
would build on top of things which are already in "the ether" and well
understood inside the ide. (instead of a new pg feature it is
implemented as new project type)

In fact, one of the first little plugins I ever wrote for NB was a
project template which could essentially open anything as "generic
project". It couldn't do much except listing files. (I used it for glsl
shaders and files which didn't have language support yet)

The open question is what should be the project marker and do we want
pollute repos with nb config files - but I suppose there are solutions
to that too, e.g a file at the root / private folders or even in the nb
user config (I learned the c++ lite support works that way since you
open projects with the new project wizard - which is wild).
