Thanks all, I made the bulk update on the issues with "affect version" set to 0.x. I'll wait a bit more before moving forward with the rest of what we discussed. As a side note, it is possible to NOT send any email notification with the bulk update.
Lucas, That is a good question, I'm not aware of what other Apache projects are doing on that topic and what level of configurability is available in JIRA itself. But I'd be supportive of some "auto cleaning" rules like we did with PRs on Github.
