Hi Jan, I'm sorry to hear that because you appear to be the right person for this project and your experience developing robots will be essential to validate everything is working as expected.
But I completely understand your point (I faced similar challenges on my Master Degree as well), the ideal should be conciating GSoC with something related to your master degree.
