I dont remember this being discussed on the mailing list.
There was a lot of discussion about creating a NuttX organization in the old pre-Apache Discord channel. It was very clear and obvious that we did not have the wherewithal to do that with the people involved NuttX at the time. We wanted to creating something we called a NuttX Foundation at the time.
I was also very burned out after doing this for many years with endless arguments and difficulties with people. Discussions are annoying, engineering is fun.
At that time, I was the sole owner of and copyright holder of all the OS. There was nothing I was obligated to discuss with anyone else. Xiaomi approached me with the idea of supporting NuttX un Apache. There was discussion within the inner circle of NuttX and probably on the old Discord channel about this as well. Anyway, I unilaterally made the decision to proceed with Xiaomi's plan and certainly had no intention of extending the misery of useless discussions with people in a public forum.
In the old days, the project mail was used only for technical discussions. There were seldom public project discussions. You can see all public discussion outside of the Discord here: https://groups.google.com/g/nuttx. The old Discord channel was removed. Things worked worked much better then compared to now where everyone's opinion mattered.
For better or worse, that is how it happened. Now all decisions are in public forum, thanks to Apache, so you have no need to be concerned now or in the recent past or going forward.
