yes, but you can also use a synthetic word. An example of such a synthetic word (in german "Kunstwort") is the name of the chocolate bar "Twix" (http://www.juz-nickenich.de/images/twix.jpg). The word "Twix" has no real content, but _everyone knows exactly what it means_. Do you understand what I mean?
