An alternate suggestion (if it is easier) is have File | Open default to
"All documents" rather than "All Files (*.*)".  The reason is that novice
users are clicking on document types such as .pdf's and getting a confusing
error message.  OOo should not by default list unsupported document types in
the File | Open dialog.
