Hi Chris,

How does this fit in with the TCM ? I think this is a very good idea, but isn't there a risk that we will be doubling our efforts, so to speak? I must admit to not having done the TCM tests in a while, I have been concentrating on getting the test tool to work instead.

Alex:

As one of the team leads for testing, the Base tests need to be redone and
incorporate
what Chris has proposed. We definately need to have testing done through the
ODBC
and JDBC connectors into the Base product and also for OpenOffice.org. I ran
into
a situation where a user connecting to a remote MySQL database through the JDBC could not retrieve data. This was not true on a local machine nor through the biblio product.

i also think that the strength of the oo community is, that we have so many different user with different work scenario etc. and we should better utilize, organize and coordinate that and also better share our knowledge

in this case i want to know the different needs: what is interesting to test and what is interesting to know, who can do that and how we can present the results

I do like this idea, so there are definitely scenarios that can be developed for testing. I would have one question though : would it be possible to have some kind of db entry form for the results rather than having to e-mail them to you, with the inevitable mailbox overload that might cause ?

Might I suggest an issue for this? I think that the code should be Enhancement
or Task.

the tcm tooling like it is right now, is definetly not adequate for test scenarios beyond language testing - this has to be improved in any way (among others, andre schnabel is working on that problem)

Just some initial thoughts,

Mine are secondary. This project is in progress and looks very good. Howwever
it
needs to also be tracked through TCM and appropriate test cases generated.
