Hi André,

while testing OOo 2.1 for mac one of our testers came across a possible
data loss in Writer. In fact the problem is really old and has been
already reported. See:

http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=46945
As stated in the issues, this is expected bahaviour, as the table
autoformat applies a number style to the cells. If this happens to a
cell that has normal text content, the content is replaced by 0. In fact
the content is lost.
Following our issue guidelines this would be a P2 - at the other hand
only few users seem to come across this problem and I don't like to
reopen as P2.
Does anybody have an idea how to proceed with this issue?
I know this one from our Dutch list, few years back ;-)
The comments from es (#34850) and mru(#46945) (choose more en uncheck
Number Format) are true, but not good enough, IMO.
Of course the user can do Ctrl-Z after the undesired effect, and look
for settings under More ....
However, since we cannot expect users to be all confident with Udo and
then look under the 8 or so settings, to see if any works ... it is a
wrong design.
I think More should be show by default and/or Number format uncheccked.
So may be reopen and ask for change as suggested ?

Cor
