I'm cuting your message here, but I really second what you said. For me, giving a Go to a release has always been a balance between quality and feedback needs. Some French contributors don't agree about the fact that I gave a GO to some releases on plateform that didn't reach the overall quality of the others. But... with no release, we got no users - with no users, we got no testers - with no testers, we got no release. So what ? I'm sure that we are all aware of the aim of quality we would like or need to provide, but first we need users that will provide contributors. It's up to the QA lead to estimate what is the level of quality needed for its release. The more users, the more quality, but also the more contributors you may (if you do a good job ;-) have.
