It's regrettably impossible for the Testtool to "see" what the preview
box shows. And therefore also not possible to check if what the box
shows is what it's supposed to show.

No, you can make a snapshot, but you have to check the snapshot manually
afterwards.
Try to find another way to test the feature. (as my colleague have written)
