"Register-true" is only of use when printing on both sides of a page. It is 
intended to ensure that the lines of text on one side line up with (or 
register) directly with the text on the other side. You will only see a 
difference with double-sided printouts, but the on-screen display will appear 
to remain unchanged. As far as I am aware, there should be no visible grid, 
since (provided that I understand the implementation correctly), the changes 
(if any) to the line spacing (leading) is done when the document is being 
prepared to be sent to the printer.
