Marcel, after reading [6] for myself, it seems like you are correct, beta
releases should go to the distribution repository. I opened a ticket for
the infra team to allow the Shindig project to leverage svn pubsub to push
our releases. Hopefully that won't take long, if it ends up taking a
while it looks like we can upload them manually and I can certainly try
that, although I have not done that before. (I am a relatively new
committer so I don't know all the ins and outs yet.) Thanks for all your
help!

-Ryan

I am aware of that, and that will take some time. That's understandable
and that's not why I was following up on this.

My point is that every release (that gets voted on and succeeds) should
end up in www.apache.org/dist/shindig as that is the official location for
all releases. This location must include all sources (anything else is
pretty much optional) needed to build Shindig.

I think you should (please read [6]). A release is a release regardless of
its version number. You mention these releases in your reports to the
board as well.

Ok. My point is that this is the artifact that should probably have been
in the official location.

Thanks for your efforts, that's definitely appreciated.

Surely someone can just put them there manually and fix the release
procedure for the next one?!

) but when I unpacked "shindig-server-2.5.0-beta1-sources.jar" the file
was pretty much empty!? Where are the sources and how can I build the
project?
