I agree, we should go away from XML. For the the reasons above, readability & 
conciseness and last but not least because you will not make friends out there 
coming up with an XML format in 2014 :) Using maven poms as a guideline is not 
good, the pom.xml format is probably what most people make hate maven [1].

And yes, the broader discussion is more important now, just wanted to underline 
that point.
